Gumtree – Posting Ads

Originating in March 2000, Gumtree is ultimately Europe’s closest version of Craigslist. This London classified ads website connects several people who surf the site for various reasons. Because of the word of mouth marketing scheme (and ultimately writing this article), the site has continued to expand. Gumtree includes 6 countries with 60 individual cities including Poland, UK, Australia, Ireland, South Africa as well as New Zealand.

With nearly 1 million people visiting each month, posting ads in some of the various sections could become rewarding for many. These sections include:

Accommodation / Property / Parking

Stuff for sale (For wanted post in below category "Stuff wanted")

Stuff wanted

Community

Travel / travel partners / tours

Friends / partners / dating

Depending on the section that you choose to post to, a variety of subcategories will come up with other instructions or advice from the site creators in guiding you through the processes of selling or posting within that community. This guidance including how to take money from people for purchasing your items to what not to tell people you’re communicating with via the dating section, all are helpful hints that are just an added extra that makes gumtree.com a personal friend to all of its visitors.

For example, you want to sell a vintage guitar. You go to the Stuff for sale section. From there, a page highlighting how to spot counterfeit transactions and examples of emails they may send you. Subcategories of places to sell your items is provided, choose the one closest to your item. In this case, music/instruments would fit best. From there, another group of categories is available: choose guitar/guitar amps for this prompt. Now you create your ad, fill in the various sections including price and location of the item. Be sure to include everything you think someone would want to know about the item before contacting you. Provide adequate contact information as well. This will give you a better chance of selling your item.

Ultimately, whatever it is that you post on gumtree.com, be sure that you provide the information needed and accurately for viewers. With a million people viewing these ads, it’s likely your item will sell. Good customer service and proper communication will ensure this time and time again. Happy posting!
